Bashir sends peace adviser to Abuja

Khartoum- Sudan (PANA) -- President Omar el Bashir Sunday sent his peace adviser, Ghazi Atabani, with a message on the peace process in Sudan to President Olusegun Obasanjo, the official Sudan News Agency (SUNA) reported.
The message also concerns the meeting of Southern (Sudanese) politicians in Abuja on 29 October.
The agency quoted state minister of peace, Deu Matuk, who is a Southern Sudanese executive, as saying Bashir's message "will inform Obasanjo about the latest developments in the Sudanese peace process in the light of the IGAD and the Libyan-Egyptian peace initiatives in Sudan.
" "Atabani's talks will also concentrate on the peace process in view of President Obasanjo's concern with the issue and his sponsorship of the upcoming conference of Southern politicians," Matuk explained.
The Nigerian leader has reiterated the need for a consensus of Southern public opinion in order to reach an agreement for the possible end of 18 years of fighting in Southern Sudan.
