Dakar, Senegal (PANA) - The Director-General of the Arab Bank for Economic Development in Africa (BADEA), Mr. Abdelaziz Khelef, arrived in Lilongwe, capital of Malawi, Wednesday.
While in Malawi, he will meet with the Minister of Finance and other high-ranking government officials.
The Director General will use the opportunity of his visit to discuss the mutual cooperation between Malawi and BADEA, with the objective of exploring the various means of promoting and developing it.
As at the end of June 2012, BADEA’s total assistance to Malawi stood at US$92.5 million and covered 20 development projects.
BADEA’s operations benefit all the 43 eligible countries in sub-Saharan Africa, in addition to a number of regional organisations.
The projects being financed by BADEA cover infrastructure, agriculture and rural development, electricity, rural roads, animal and fish production, energy, industry as well as the social and the banking sector, among others.
