BADEA grants Cape Verde $1.7 million to boost water project

Dakar- Senegal (PANA) -- A huge water bottling project was launched in Cape Verde's Santiago Island on Monday thanks to the Arab Bank for Economic Development in Africa (BADEA), which provided US$1.
7 million for the project, BADEA said in a statement sent to PANA on Tuesday.
The project seeks to ensure residents in Cape Verdean access to safe quality drinking water and is exemplary in promoting the private sector, the statement says.
BADEA's contributions in Africa cover 43 countries and some regional organisations involved in agriculture, rural development, industry, energy supply and social activities.
Its total volume of funding for projects in African countries since 1975 to late December 2006 reached US$3173.
52 million.
