BADEA grants 4.7 billion FCFA to Senegal for potable water

Dakar, Senegal (PANA) – The Arab bank for Africa’s economic development (BADEA) has granted Senegal a loan of 4.7 billion FCFA to finance potable water in the Delta of Saloum, located in the centre of the country, an official statement issued Friday in Dakar said.

The project will give more than 70,000 people access to drinkable water.

The statement said that the project should also contribute to the eradication of diseases of hydric origin, improve public health and promote economic activities in the area.

Between 1975 and 2011, BADEA granted a total of US$ 242.22 billion to Senegal for projects on agriculture, water, sanitation and infrastructure.
