Another Rwandan female volleyball player vanishes at Commonwealth Games in Australia

Kigali, Rwanda (PANA) - The second member of the Rwandan delegation at just-concluded 2018 Commonwealth Games in Australia, Denise Mutatsimpundu, has gone missing from her accommodation at the Commonwealth Games in Australia, just few hours before the team was due to return home, a sport official confirmed Wednesday to PANA in Kigali.

The Press Officer at the Rwanda National Olympic Committee (NOC), Fidèle Kajugiro Sebalinda, said the female beach volleyball player had valid Australian visas until 15 May.

This disappearance comes after the head coach of the nation's Para-Powerlifting team, Jean Paul Nsengiyumva, went missing while attending the 2018 Commonwealth Games in Australia.

Reports say that the Rwandan official went missing just some minutes before the end of his athletes' competition.

Rwanda sent 17 athletes to the Games to participate in 4 disciplines (Beach Volleyball, Athletics, Cycling, and Para-Powerlifting).

In a related development, Cameroon has confirmed that eight athletes, six men and two women vanished from the Games, while two Ugandan athletes also went missing, reports said.

Although somewhat strange, it's not all that unusual for Athletes to overstay their visas and attempt to remain in Australia.
