Annan urges Ivorians to implement Marcoussis, Accra III accords

Ouagadougou- Burkina Faso (PANA) -- UN Secretary General Kofi Annan has called on the Ivorian government and the New Forces to implement the Linas-Marcoussis and Accra III Accords, towards ending the 25-month political crisis in the country.
Annan, who is on a visit to Burkina Faso, which is hosting the 10th Francophone summit, also urged the parties to the Ivorian crisis to return to the negotiating table, adding: "Military might will not resolve the problems.
" Diplomatic sources said the UN chief is expected to hold discussions on other crises in Africa including Guinea Bissau, Darfur in Sudan and in the Great Lakes region.
Before taking part in the 26-27 November Francophone summit, Annan would also hold talks with UN officials and working sessions between the UN and Burkinabè delegations are also on the card.
He would equally visit some UN programmes in Burkina Faso, including the AIDS Treatment Centre.
