Angolan Premier talks to UNHCR over return of refugees

Cairo- Egypt (PANA) - – Angola says it hopes to work with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) towards the return of Angolan refugees current l y residing in Zambia and the DR Congo.
The announcement was made after Angolan Premier Fernando da Piedade Dias dos S antos met Monday with the UNHCR Commissioner Antonio Guterres at the African Sum m it in Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt.
The meeting was held on the sidelines of the African Union summit which ended Tu esday.
Guterres told reporters after the meeting that they had analysed the return of a small group of Angolan refugees, adding that efforts were being made to reinteg r ate others in host nations.
He said the efforts would hopefully lead to future agreements in line with the r ight of return of refugees to their countries of origin.
Guterres recalled that recently thousands of Angolan refugees were successfully repatriated to their country, thanks to the excellent cooperation between UNHCR a nd Angolan authorities.
