Angola marks World AIDS Day with counselling, voluntary testing

Luanda, Angola (PANA) – A counselling and voluntary testing awareness campaign marked Luanda celebration of World AIDS Day on Wednesday in Viana district.

The event included distribution of pamphlets and theatre plays on HIV and AIDS.

The head of the Public Health Section of the Provincial Department. Regina António, said the day was one of  reflection.

"All must think about what to do in order to avoid HIV and AIDS in the family and community,” she
said.

The official said unfortunately infections were on the rise as there was still a lot of ignorance on the part of the population about the measures of prevention.

Antonio spoke of the importance of conjugal fidelity, counselling and voluntary testing.

According to her, people with HIV and AIDS can get medication in Luanda’s health centres.
