Algiers- Algeria (PANA) -- Residents of Oued El-Abtal in the Mascara prefecture of Mascara, 360-km west of Algiers, angrily reacted Monday to the death of seven babies after being vaccinated against measles.
Algeria's health minister, Prof.
Abdelahamid Aberkane, confirmed the deaths were due to a breach in the vaccine preparation procedures and promised to take disciplinary measures and criminal proceedings against the negligent members of staff.
He said, however, that the vaccination campaign would continue throughout the country using safe vaccines.
