American official tours Sudan’s neighboring countries to discuss developments in Khartoum

Khartoum, Sudan (PANA) - A senior US state department officials is on a five-leg tour to Kenya, Egypt, UAE, Turkey and Israel to “promote democratic civilian government in Sudan“ among other issues, an official source said here Tuesday.

A statement by the state department said U.S. Special Envoy for the Horn of Africa Ambassador David Satterfield will travel to Kenya, Egypt, the UAE, Turkey, and Israel from 24 January to 4 February, 2022.

“Special Envoy Satterfield will hold meetings with officials from respective governments and key stakeholders to promote democratic civilian rule in Sudan and to support peace and prosperity in the Horn of Africa,” the statement said.

This travel immediately follows his trips to Saudi Arabia, Sudan, and Ethiopia to advance democracy, peace, and stability in the Horn of Africa.
