Algeria: Algeria to suspend flights to Tripoli from Friday

Algiers, Algeria (PANA) – The Algerian ministry of Transport announced here Wednesday the suspension, from Friday, of flights between Algiers and Tripoli.

It said that it had informed Libyan authorities on the development, saying suspension is effective until further notice.

The Prime Minister of the Libyan national coalition government, Faiz Serradj, had on Monday visited Algeria where he was received by president Abdelaziz Bouteflika.

He had also discussed with the Algerian Prime Minister Abdelmalek Sellal the prevailing situation in Libya and moves by Algeria to support the national unity government and efforts made to restore security and stability in Libya.

The announcement of the suspension of flights coincides with moves by the European Union to impose sanctions on several Libyan personalities in Tripoli, among them the president of the National general Congress and the Prime Minister of the national unity government (not recognized by the international community).
