Air Zimbabwe launches direct flight to London

Harare- Zimbabwe (PANA) -- Zimbabwe's national airline Monday inaugurated its direct flight from London to the country's tourist resort of Victoria Falls, in a bid to boost the sagging tourism industry.
Air Zimbabwe said it would now fly weekly flights from the British capital to Victoria Falls, previously accessible via Johannesburg and Harare international Airports.
The move is intended to woo European tourists, apparently scared by persistent press reports of political violence and instability in the Southern African country.
"Until the introduction of this direct flight from Europe today, our tourism jewel had only been accessible through Harare and Johannesburg.
Now only Zimbabwe can claim to have flights that will take tourists directly to their destination here to see and enjoy," Transport Minister Swithun Mombeshora said at the inauguration.
