African ministers demand respect for human rights in Iraq

Addis Ababa- Ethiopia (PANA) -- Africa has re-emphasised its grave concern over the violations of human rights as a result of the raging war in Iraq.
The ministerial meeting on the draft protocol of the African Union on women's rights, which ended here at the weekend, has called on the belligerents in Iraq to respect and protect the rights of the civilian population.
In a declaration on the situation in the Persian Gulf, the ministers expressed solidarity with the women of Iraq and called for the full respect and protection of their rights.
The ministers also urged the international community to render urgently required humanitarian assistance to the people of Iraq.
