African francophone Parliamentary Assembly opens in Rabat

Rabat, Morocco (PANA) - The 19th session of the Africa Regional Parliamentary Assembly of La Francophonie opened Thursday in Rabat, Morocco.

During the two-day meeting, participants will follow presentations on the Parliamentary Assembly of La Francophonie (APF) activities report, the political and social situation in the continent, the real impact of specific HIV/AIDS legislation in African countries, and building the capacities of National Human Rights Commissions.

Discussions will also focus on the conclusions of the Ouagadougou inter-parliamentary seminar (16-18 June, 2010) on the promotion of democratic governance of security systems in the APF Africa Regional countries.

Also included on the agenda of the meeting is the preparation for the 37th session of the Francophone Parliamentary Assembly, held from 4 to 8 July, 2010, in Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).
