African ambassadors meet in Malabo ahead of AU summit

Dakar, Senegal (PANA) - The Permanent Representatives Committee (PRC) composed of ambassadors to the African Union (AU) opens its regular session on Thursday in Malabo, Equatorial Guinea, ahead of the Foreign Ministers’ meeting scheduled for 26-28 June.

The meetings will culminate in the 17th summit of the Heads of State and Government of the Pan-African institution, to be held from 30 June to 1 July.

Financial, administrative and legal issues will be among the items on the agenda of the ambassadors' meeting.

They will also discuss reports on the cooperation of the AU with other regional groupings, take stock of the implementation of decisions taken by previous summits and assess the ratification and implementation of the various treaties signed by member states under the aegis of the African Union and the defunct Organization of African Unity (OAU).

Gender issues are also on the agenda of the meeting.
