African Union assists war-displaced Sudanese

Addis Ababa- Ethiopia (PANA) -- The African Union (AU) would donate 50,000 dollars to help displaced persons in Sudan, an AU press release quoted AU Interim Chairman, Amara Essy, as authorising here Thursday.
It said Essy took the decision following an assessment visit to Kassala, Sudan, by Liberian Ambassador Marcus Kofa, 14-17 December 2002.
Essy later appealed to humanitarian organizations and the international community to come to the rescue of refugees and displaced persons in war-torn Sudan.
