AfDB pays tribute to Nelson Mandela

Tunis, Tunisia (PANA) – The chairman of the African Development Bank Group (AfDB), Donald Kaberuka, has described Nelson Mandela as a gift for humanity, a dominating personality for Africa and the whole world, who will remain one of the greatest figures of humanity.

Speaking at a ceremony Saturday in memory of the late South African president, Kaberuka told AfDB workers “to make Nelson Mandela, a source for inspiration in their daily lives”.

“Mandela was called to liberate the poor from the prison of poverty," Kaberuka declared, adding “Just like prison, slavery and apartheid, poverty also is man’s invention but it can be tackled.”

The ADB Chief asked: “Can we, whatever the place we occupy in society, tell Madiba he can rest in peace if he wakes up and asked us how are we doing?”
