AfDB launches Africa Investment Forum Road across North Africa

Abidjan, Cote d'Ivoire (PANA) - From 13 to 29 July, 2018, the African Development Bank (AfDB) will present the Africa Investment Forum (AIF), the largest investment market in Africa, in North Africa, in a regional road show preceding the first ever Africa Investment Forum, to be held in Johannesburg, South Africa, from 7 to 9 November, 2018.

The AfDB media channel reports that the Forum and the Roadshow are designed to help Africa find a path to prosperity with the bank seeking to champion the continent's premier investment market.

In a spirit of collaborative leadership, the Bank is piloting a new 100% transactional initiative, the Africa Investment Forum - the investment forum in Africa - which represents the best opportunity to stimulate the continent's economic transformation.

To meet this challenge, the AfDB has designed the AIF as a platform to actively engage the private sector and facilitate projects that can transform the continent.

The forum aims to strengthen cooperation with the private sector and stimulate investment in areas of strategic interest.

"This is not a discussion forum. There will be no political speeches. The AIF is an open space that aims to coordinate the efforts of multilateral institutions, governments and the private sector to improve a pool of projects that can transform the continent," said Akinwumi Adesina, president of the AfDB at the Africa CEO Forum last March.

It is in this perspective that a delegation from the AfDB will visit Tunis on 23 July, Cairo on 25, Casablanca on 27 and Algiers on 29, to communicate more about the AIF and to encourage interest of private operators and thus encourage them to prepare projects to be presented in November 2018 to potential investors.

The AIF is intended to be a multi-stakeholder and multi-disciplinary platform to support project appraisal up to financing, raise capital and accelerate the financial closure of such projects.
