AU receives euros 5 million French donation

Addis Ababa- Ethiopia (PANA) -- France has given the African Union (AU) a 5 million Euros budgetary support grant, becoming the first partner to prop up the continental body's 2005 programme of activities.
Initialling the grant agreement at the AU headquarters here, France's Ambassador to Ethiopia, Stephane Gompertz, underscored the importance his country attaches to its friendly relations with Africa.
Among activities earmarked for implementation with the grant is the development of an African communication policy, the AU Commission said.
Infrastructure and Energy Commissioner Bernard Zoba signed the agreement on behalf of the Commission, saying the donation would boost efforts to achieve the goals of the continental body.
