AU hails adoption of constitutional bill in Burundi

Bujumbura- Burundi (PANA) -- The African Union (AU) Tuesday hailed recent political developments in Burundi, particularly the adoption of a bill on an interim constitution few days ago by Parliament and the Senate.
"AU notes with satisfaction and hope the recent political developments in Burundi following decisions of the 23rd summit of the regional peace initiative on Burundi for an interim constitution until a referendum scheduled 26 November," the African Union said in a release announced.
Burundi's main political parties drafted the bill in Pretoria, South Africa at the behest of South African vice-president Jacob Zuma.
The AU noted that Burundi's political class had shown a genuine political will, and promised its unflinching support to efforts by the leaders and people of Burundi.
It appealed to them to unite in order to restore peace and stability in their country.
