AU Chair, Boni Yayi, arrives Abuja

Abuja, Nigeria (PANA) - The African Union (AU) Chairman, Beninese President Boni Yayi, arrived in Abuja Monday afternoon on a brief visit to Nigeria, PANA reported.

President Yayi was received at the Aso Rock presidential villa by host President Goodluck Jonathan, before the two went indoors for talks.

In a statement issued earlier Monday and made available to PANA in Cotonou, the Benin presidency said the visit to Nigeria was part of the AU Chair's regular consultations with his peers.

According to the statement, the talks between the two leaders will touch on developments in the continent as well as issues of common interest to both countries.

The Beninese President is due to return home later Monday.
