68 Rwanda refugees stranded at Ugandan border

Kampala- Uganda (PANA) -- Some 68 stranded Rwandan refugees are being held at the Ugandan police station on the Uganda-Tanzania border, Ugandan police said Saturday.
Dennis Ssebugwawo, the Rakai District Police Special Branch Officer, said the desperate and hungry refugees now at the Mutukula border post, were attempting to cross into Uganda illegally after fleeing their camp in northern Tanzania.
"They were intercepted by the border patrol police while trying to cross into Uganda without valid migration document," Ssebugwawo said on telephone from Rakai district some 350-km south west of Kampala.
He said most of the refugees were children, and also included pregnant women.
