40,000 Ivorian children are malnourished - expert

Abidjan- Côte d'Ivoire (PANA) -- Some 40,000 Ivorian children under age five are malnourished, according to Fokouo Kouadio Gualbert, an official with the National Nutrition Programme.
He told a symposium organised here by the Ivorian Association for University and Vocational Training, that 20.
87% of the children suffered acute malnutrition, and 20% from iron deficiency.
Gualbert also disclosed that 84.
4% of Ivorian households consumed iodized salt, against 90% recommended by the World Health Organisation (WHO), adding that Vitamin A, iodine and protein deficiencies were also common in the country.
