36 rebels killed in clashes with Sudanese armed forces in Darfur

Khartoum, Sudan (PANA) - Launching its campaign to crush rebel movements in Darfur, South Kordufan and Blue Nile state this year, the Sudanese government forces reported that they killed 36 rebels of the Sudanese Revolutionary Front (SRF) in fighting in eastern Jebel Marrah area in west Sudan’s Darfur region, near the borderline with Chad.

Reporting from Darfur, the pro-government Sudanese Media Centre (SMC) said on Thursday
that the rebel Ali Carbino faction and other rebel groups of the SRF last week attacked east Jebel Marrah area.

The news service said the SAF engaged in fighting with the rebels and killed 36 of them, including the Abu Bakr Mohamed Khair, the Deputy Commander of Carbino faction.

Sudan’s Defence Minister, Rahim Mohamed Hussein, told the Sudanese parliament early in the week that preparations were underway to crush rebel movements in Darfur, South Kordufan and Blue Nile state, this year.
