2023 FIFA U-17 World Cup: Senegal, five others reach Round of 16

Bandung, Indonesia (PANA) - Even with one match still to be played in the group stage, Senegal, Spain, England, France, Germany and the United States have reached the Round of 16 at the ongoing 2023 FIFA Under-17 World Cup in Indonesia.

After Day 2 Group matches played on Tuesday and Wednesday, Senegal won two straight matches (2-1 against Argentina and 4-1 against Poland) in Group D, to grab 6 points and claim the top position, ahead of Argentina (3 points), Japan (3) and Poland (0).

In Group B, Spain lead with 6 points, ahead of Mali with 3 points, Uzbekistan (3) and Canada (0) in that order.

England lead Group C with 6 points, Brazil are in second place with 3 points, Iran third also with 3 points and New Caledonia in fourth place with 0 point.

France and the United States lead Group E, both with 6 points while South Korea and Burkina Faso, in that order, are pointless.

And in Group F, Germany lead with 6 points, ahead of Venezuela (4), Mexico (1) and New New Zealand (0).

There is no clear winning team in Group A, featuring Ecuador, Morocco, hosts Indonesia and Panama.

Day 3 matches will be played on 16, 17 and 18 November.
