2020-21 CAF Champions League Final: What you should know

Cairo, Egypt (PANA) - Title holders Al Ahly of Egypt take on Kaizer Chiefs of South Africa in the final of the 2020-21 CAF Champions League Final on Saturday.

Here is all you need to know about the showdown -

Al Ahly are the title holders, and are playing their record 14th Champions League final. They also hold the record of most titles won (9), having been crowned champions in 1982, 1987, 2001, 2005, 2006, 2008, 2012, 2013 and 2019-20.

Who?

Kaizer Chiefs are playing their first ever Champions League final.against the Egyptian soccer giants.

When? - The match will be played on Saturday 17 July. Kickoff at 19:00 GMT

Where? - The final will be held at Complexe Mohamed V Stadium in Casablanca, Morocco.

Awards - Besides the TotalEnergies CAF Champions League Trophy, the winners will get the prize money of US$ 2.5 million, while the runners up will collect US$ 1.25 million.

The Champions will have a place in the 2021 CAF Super Cup where they will face the winners of the 2020-21 TotalEnergies CAF Confederation Cup. They will also represent Africa at the 2021 FIFA Club World Cup, scheduled for Japan next December.

Important Rules - Five substitutions for each team are allowed, with nine players on the bench.

If the 90 minutes of regular time end in a draw, 30 minutes of extra-time will be played. An extra substitution is allowed in extra time.

If there is no winner after the extra time, a penalty shootout will take place to determine the winners.

VAR - The video assistant referee (VAR) system will be used in the final.
