2018 FIFA WC: Ronaldo, Diego Costa shine as Portugal, Spain draw 3-3 in Group B match

Sochi, Russia (PANA) - Cristiano Ronaldo scored a hat-trick for Portugal and Diego Costa scored a brace for Spain as the two stars shone in the Group B clash between the two European football giants at the 2018 FIFA World Cup on Friday, which lived up to its billing in a thrilling 3-3 draw.

Ronaldo, who scored his first goal in the encounter at the Fisht Stadium in Sochi through a penalty lick in the 4th minute, became only the fourth man to score in four World Cup competitions after Uwe Seeler (Germany), Pele (Brazil) and Miroslav Klose (Germany).

Diego Costa levelled in the 24th minute before the Ronaldo shot his country into the lead again in the 44th minute. But Costa levelled again in the 55th minute before Nacho's stunning shot gave Spain the lead three minutes later.

Ronaldo, the Portugal captain, rose to the occasion when he curled in a stunning free kick in the 88th minute to level matters in the pulsating match, that saw Spain have the chunk of posession.

The result means Iran, who beat Morocco in the first Group B match earlier in the day, occupy the top spot with 3 points. Portugal and Spain have one point each while Morocco have zero.

Portugal play Morocco in Moscow on Wednesday while Spain meet Iran in Kazan later the same day.
