2018 FIFA WC: Morocco coach names squad

Rabat, Morocco (PANA) - The coach of the Moroccan national football team, Hervé Renard, on Monday released the names of 23 players for the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia, which kicks off on 14 June.

The French tactician dropped Badre Banoun (Raja Casablanca) and Noussair Mazraoui (Ajax Amsterdam/Netherlands).

The Atlas Lions are currently training in Switzerland where they are due to play a friendly match on Monday against Slovakia in Geneva. They will then fly to Tallinn, Estonia, where they will on 9 June play their last friendly match against the Estonian national team.

Morocco are in Group B and will begin their campaign on 15 June in Saint-Petersburg against Iran.

They will on 20 June play their second match against Portugal at Loujniki stadium of Moscow, before playing their last group match on 25 June in Kaliningrad against Spain.

- Goalkeepers: Mounir El Kajoui (Numancia, Spain), Yassine Bounou (Gerona, Spain), Ahmad Reda Tagnaouti (IR Tanger).

- Defenders: Mehdi Benatia (Juventus, Italy), Romain Saiss (Wolverhampton, England), Manuel Da Costa (Basaksehir, Turkey), Nabil Dirar (Fenerbahçe, Turkey), Achraf Hakimi (Real Madrid, Spain), Hamza Mendyl (Lille, France)

- Midfielders: M'barek Boussoufa (Al Jazira, UAE), Karim El Ahmadi (Feyenoord, The Netherlands), Youssef Aït Bennasser (Caen, France), Sofyan Amrabat (Feyenoord, The Netherlands), Younès Belhanda (Galatasaray, Turkey), Fayçal Fajr (Getafe, Spain), Amine Harit (Schalke 04, Germany)
