2018 FIFA WC: Coach Gernot Rohr names Super Eagles final World Cup squad

London, UK (PANA) - Gernot Rohr, the coach of Nigeria's senior national football team, on Sunday named his final 23-man squad for the 2018 World Cup in Russia.

Having already trimmed down the Super Eagles provisional squad to 25 before the 2-1 loss to England on Saturday. Rohr was left with the decision of dropping two players from the roster.

The ‘unlucky’ duo dropped on Sunday are Ola Aina and Mikel Agu.

Reports say however that both players will still travel to Russia as they are now on the alternate list.

Skipper John Mikel Obi is top on the list which has three goalkeepers, eight defenders, six midfielders as well as six attackers.

The 23-man squad was confirmed on the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) verified Twitter handle on Sunday morning.
