2018 FIFA U-17 WWC: Ghana join Cameroon and South Africa for Uruguay

Cape Coast, Ghana (PANA) - Ghana again made minced meat of Djibouti, destroying them 10-0 at the Cape Coast Sports Stadium, Cape Coast, on Sunday to ease into the 2018 FIFA Under-17 Women's World Cup, to be played in Uruguay from 13 November to 1 December.

The Ghanaians had beaten Djibouti 9-0 in the first leg on Feb 2 and therefore qualified for Uruguay on a 19-0 goals aggregate.

Ghana join South Africa and Cameroon as Africa's representatives in Uruguay.

To qualify, South Africa went to Morocco to beat the North Africans 1-0 on Saturday and qualified on 6-1 goals aggregate, having won the first leg 5-1.

In the other qualifier, Cameroon, which drew 2-2 with Nigeria in Benin on Feb 3, drew 1-1 with the Nigerians and qualified on away goals rule.

Both teams tied 3-3 on aggregate but the Cameroonians' 2 goals in Benin gave them four points advantage against Nigeria's 2.

While the South Africans (in 2010) and Cameroonians (in 2016) are making their second appearance at the Under-17 world stage, Uruguay will be Ghana's 6th appearance, having played in the 2008, 2010, 2012, 2014, and 2016 tournaments.
