2017 FIFA U-20 WC: Venezuela beat Uruguay 4-3 on penalties to reach final

Daejeon, Korea (PANA) - Venezuela on Thursday reached the final of the 2017 FIFA U-20 World Cup tournament in Korea when they beat Uruguay 4-3 on penalties.

Their semifinal match played at the Daejeon World Cup Stadium ended 1-1 after extra time. Venezuela successfully converted 4 penalty kicks while Uruguay converted 3. The hero was Venezuela's goalkeeper Wuilker Farinez who saved to kicks.

After a goalless first half, Uruguay took the lead in 49th minute when Nicolas de la Cruz scored from the penalty spot.

Uruguay appeared to be cruising to the final until substitute Samuel Sosa's curling free kick in the 90th minute sent the match into extra time.
