2017 FIFA U-20 WC: Mexico joins Venezuela in Round of 16

Suwon, South Korea (PANA) - Mexico, silver and bronze medallists in 1977 and 2011 respectively, on Friday qualified for the Round of 16 of the 2017 FIFA Under-20 World Cup in South Korea, despite losing 1-0 to Group B winners Venezuela at the Suwon World Cup Stadium, Suwon.

The Venezuelans scored a perfect 9 points after winning all their 3 group matches.

The Mexicans ended the group campaign in second place with 4 points, ahead of Germany, also with 4 points. But the 1981 winners, Germany, will have to wait until all final group matches are played before they know if they will advance as one of the four best third-place teams.

Germany beat Vanuatu 3-2 and Vanuatu is now eliminated.
