2017 FIFA Confed. Cup: Mexico climbs top of Group A after New Zealand 2-1 win

Sochi, Russia (PANA) - With goals from Raúl Jiménez in the 54th minute, and Oribe Peralta, in the 72nd, Mexico came from behind on Wednesday to snatch the 3 points at stake in their Group A match against New Zealand at the ongoing 2017 FIFA Confederations Cup in Russia.

The win gave the Mexicans 4 points, the same as the second-placed Portugal which earlier in the day defeated Russia by a lone goal. The Portuguese are in second place because Mexico have scored more goals in the tournament - 4 altogether, made up of their 2-2 draw with Portugal and the 2-1 against New Zealand. Portugal have scored 3 goals.

Russia are third on the table with 3 points from their 2-0 win against New Zealand. The All Whites are yet to score a point.
