For the first time in FIFA Beach Soccer history, all semi-finalists are from different confederations.

IRAN - AFC (Asia) - joins seasoned trio in the semi-finals. Iran qualified for their first-ever FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup semi-finals with a thrilling 4-3 win in extra time against Switzerland.

TAHITI - OFC (Oceania) - Tahiti's qualification is their three straight advancement to this level. Tahiti's Adidas Golden Glove winner at the 2015 edition in Portugal, Jonathan Torohia, earned the team from Oceania their progression as his long-distance volley seemed to give the team the momentum it needed to fend off a tenacious Paraguay and qualify for a third consecutive semi-finals.

BRAZIL - CONMEBOL (South America) - Brazil sent defending champions Portugal out of the tournament 4-3. The 13-time champions needed a stunning overhead kick in the final two minutes of the match to edge Portugal.

ITALY - UEFA (Europe) - Italy's 5-1 win over African champions, Senegal, was the most dominant performance of the evening. Coach Massimo Agostini's side were boosted by top scorer Gabriele Gori (14), who appears as if he'll never stop scoring in the Bahamas.
