2017 FIFA Beach Soccer WC: Quarter-final matches take place Thursday

Nassau, Bahamas (PANA) - Below are the fixtures for Thursday's quarter-finals of the ongoing 2017 FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup in Nassau, Bahamas.

1. PARAGUAY vs TAHITI.
Note - PARAGUAY has never won the cup. TAHITI  won silver in 2015, finished fourth when it hosted in 2013.

2.  BRAZIL vs PORTUGAL.
Note - This is the battle of beach soccer giants. BRAZIL has won 13 times overall - 9 times (1995, 1996, 1997, 1998, 1999, 2000, 2002, 2003, 2004) between 1995 to 2004 when it was called the Beach Soccer World Championship and 4 times (2006, 2007, 2008, 2009) after it was renamed FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup (from 2005 to date). The Samba country has also won one silver medal (2011), two bronze medals (2005, 2013) and finished fourth in 2001. PORTUGAL - Defending champions and two-time winners (2001, 2015), grabbed three silver medals (1999, 2002, 2005), five bronze medals (2003, 2004, 2008, 2009, 2011) and finished fourth in 2006.

3.  SWITZERLAND vs IRAN.
Note - SWITZERLAND won the silver medal in 2009, while IRAN are rookies with no title to their name.

4.  ITALY vs SENEGAL.
Note - ITALY was silver medallists in 2008, won bronze in 1996, and three-time fourth-place finishers in 1995, 2004 and 2015. SENEGAL, the defending African Champions, have not won any world title yet. Their four African titles were earned in 2008, 2011, 2013 and 2016. They also won two silver medals in 2007 and 2015, and a bronze in 2009 in the continent.
