2015 FIFA WWC: Germany, USA qualify for semi-finals

Montreal, Canada (PANA) - Two-time champions, Germany, on Friday qualified for the semi-finals of the 2015 FIFA Women's World Cup, taking place in Canada, at the expense of the 2011 fourth-place finishers, France, whom they defeated 5-4 in a penalty shootout.

The quarter-final match, played in Montreal, ended 1-1 and the stalemate was settled with the penalty shootout.

Also through to the semi-final are two-time winners USA who defeated 1999 runners up, China,
1-0 in Ottawa.

USA will now face Germany in Montreal on Tuesday in a semi-final meeting.

Two more semi-finalists will emerge onSaturday when Australia, quarter-finalists in 2007, plays against defending champions Japan in Edmonton and England, quarter-finalists in 1995, 2007 and 2011 meets, hosts and fourth-place finishers in 2003, Canada, in Vancouver.
