2015 FIFA Beach Soccer WC: Will Senegal qualify for 1/4 finals? (Preview by Vincent Obi, PANA Editor)

Espinho, Portugal (PANA) - The final group matches at the 2015 FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup in Portugal begin Monday with Senegal, one of the two African teams, standing a chance to go through to the quarter-finals.

The West Africans, second on the table behind leader Portugal, will take on bottom-of-the-table Japan in Group A for a slot in the quarter-finals.

Senegal's chances were boosted by Saturday's 6-5 win over the host (Portugal), after it lost 3-4 to Argentina in an opening game on 9 July.

All four teams in Group A have three points but Portugal is on top on account of superior goal difference. The host has scored nine goals and conceded eight while Senegal has scored nine and conceded nine.

Argentina is third with seven goals in its favour and seven goals against while Japan has scored six an conceded seven.

The other African team in the tournament, Madagascar, has been eliminated even with one match still to be played.

The African champions lost two straight matches and have no points to their credit in Group D. Madagascar was eliminated along with Paraguay, while Russia and Tahiti, with six points each, advance to the quarter-finals.
