2015 FIFA Beach Soccer WC: Madagascar loses 2nd straight match, eliminated

Espinho, Portugal (PANA) - With one match left to conclude the group campaign at the 2015 FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup in Portugal, one of the two African representatives, Madagascar, has been eliminated from the tournament.

Madagascar Sunday lost its second match in Group D, 2-4 to Russia , after losing 3-4 to Tahiti on 10 July.

The losses meant that Madagascar has scored no point and therefore is eliminated. Their Day 3 group match against Paraguay on 14 July will be a mere formality. Paraguay, like Madagascar, is also eliminated as it has not won a match and has scored no point.

The other African team in the tournament, Senegal, is second placed in Group A with three points just like all the other three teams -- Group leaders Portugal, third-placed Argentina and bottom-of-the-table Japan.

Also eliminated from the tournament are Oman and Costa Rica from Group B.

The other results of the day are:

Group C
Mexico 1-3 Spain
Iran 3-4 Brazil

Group D
Paraguay 5-7 Tahiti
