Lagos, Nigeria (PANA) - Nigeria's Super Eagles left Abuja for Blantyre Friday morning aboard a charter flight, ahead of their 2014 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Malawi on Saturday.
The local media reported that the team's departure, which had been scheduled for Thursday night, was delayed due to flight logistics.
“I remain confident that this hiccup will not affect the performance of the team as they will still get to train at the match venue Friday evening,” the Secretary General of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Mr. Musa Amadu, said.
The match is one of the 20 second round of group matches in the African qualifying series for the tournament, due to be hosted by Brazil.
In the first round of group games last week, Nigeria pipped Namibia 1-0 in the West African nation's southern city of Calabar.
