Montreux- Switzerland (PANA) -- The 18th summit of the international francophone organization (OIF), due to be held from 22 to 24 October in Montreux, Switzerlan d , will devote a large part of its programme to political issues.
These include the presidential elections in the West African states of Cote d'Iv oire and Guinea, sources from the organizers of the meeting told PANA on Tuesday.
The heads of State and government would also look into the evolution of the transition in Niger and the political crisis in Madagascar.
The sources said these issues would be discussed by the Francophone Cabinet Conference (CMF) planned for the day before the summit.
According to Clement Duhaime, administrator of the Francophone organization, the issues of peace, democracy and human rights would be high on the agenda duri ng the presentation on Saturday of the Report by OIF secretary- general, Abdou Diouf.
The summit, which has the theme, â?Challenges and visions of the future for Fra ncophonieâ? will end on Sunday with the adoption of the Montreux Declaration and the signing of lingu istic pacts between OIF on the one hand, and Lebanon, the Seychelles and Saint-L u cie on the other.
