12,000 new Liberian refugees enter Sierra Leone

Freetown- Sierra Leone (PANA) -- Representatives of the UNHCR have announced registering some 12,000 Liberian refugees in Sierra Leone's eastern town of Daru in Kailahun district in the past one week.
The agency said the refugees fled renewed fighting in the in Lofa County on Sierra Leone's eastern border.
Most of the refugees, who appeared tired and weak, were screened by the Sierra Leone police force before the UNHCR registered them and provided them shelter, food and Medicare.
Meanwhile, the agency said there was still an influx of refugees.
