10 countries for Nations Cup tourney

Nairobi- Kenya (PANA) -- Ten teams will battle it out in the August African Cup of Nations tournament in Nairobi, a top Kenya Volleyball Federation (KVF) official confirmed on Thursday.
Jacob Owiti, the KVF secretary-general, said the team beat the Confederation of African Volleyball (CAVB) deadline for confirming entry that expired three weeks ago.
At the same time, seven teams will participate in the masculine edition of the tournament, also set for August in Cairo.
The women's championship billed for 15-23 August at Nairobi's Moi International Sports Centre in Kasarani are defending champions Egypt, DR Congo, Cote d'Ivoire, Seychelles, Algeria, Cameroon, Tunisia, South Africa, Uganda and hosts Kenya.
Notable absentees from the event are continental championship regulars Morocco and Mauritius.
According to Owiti, the men's championship in Cairo will attract Tunisia, Cameroon, Kenya, Morocco, Senegal, Mali and hosts Egypt.
The Kenyan women's senior national team, leaving nothing to chance, is training in Cairo, while their male counterparts are touring Mauritius for build up matches.
"The women's team returns home 2 August for a break and resumes training on 6 August," said Owiti.

At stake in the Africa Cup of Nations tournaments are tickets to November's World Cup in Japan.
The winners will represent Africa in the Cup.
Meanwhile, Kenya and Egypt will represent Africa in the 9-17 August World Girls' Under-18 Championship in Poland.
The two were picked by the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) to carry the African flag on account of their relatively good performance in continental events.
The girls' extravaganza will bring together 16 teams, including defending champions China, Poland, Taiwan, Thailand, Russia, Kenya, Egypt and Cuba, among others.
