Nigeria's emphatic 5-0 win over New Zealand in the secon
d round of the ongoing FIFA Under-17 World Cup
in Nigeria got a massive media play in the local media Friday, returning the Gol
den Eaglets' exploits to the front pages.
The hosts scored three goals in the first half and completed the tally in the se
cond to cruise to the quarter-finals against South Korea, which beat Mexico 5-3
o
n penalties after the teams deadlocked 1-1 in regulation and extra time play.
The 'Next' newspaper gave the Nigerian team the biggest treat, as it reported th
e result of the New Zealand encounter on its front and back pages.
The front page headline in Next was '5-0', written below the picture of some Eag
