'Everyone is to blame for Ivorian crisis'

Abidjan, Cote d'Ivoire (PANA) - President of the Constitutional Council of Côte d'Ivoire, Prof. Paul Yao N'dré, has accepted responsibility for the post-election crisis that wracked the country until last week.

Prof. N'dre spoke with journalists after a meeting Thursday with President Alassane Ouattara in Abidjan.

"We Ivorian people went too far. We are all responsible for what happened. The incumbent president, the former president Laurent Gbagbo, citizens, media, we are all to blame," he said.

Prof. N'dré overruled the results announced by the Independent Electoral Commission and certified by the United Nations giving Ouattara victory in the 2010 presidential poll, and instead gave victory to Gbagbo.

On the strength of the pronouncement by the Constitutional Court, Gbagbo refused to step down, causing the crisis.
