2020-21 CAF Champions League: Wydad vs Kaizer Chiefs – Rivalry renewed

Casablanca, Morocco (PANA) - Twice African Champions, Wydad Casablanca of Morocco, host semi-final debutants, Kaizer Chiefs of South Africa, in the first-leg, semi-finals of the 2020-21 TotalEnergies CAF Champions League.

The match will take place on Saturday, 19 June, 2021, at the Complexe Mohamed V, Casablanca.

The second Leg will take place on Saturday, 26 June, 2021, at the FNB Stadium in Johannesburg.

How they reached the semifinals?

Wydad - In the first round, Wydad defeated Stade Malien (Mali) 3-1 on aggregate.

They were drawn in Group C with Kaizer Chiefs, Horoya (Guinea) and Petro de Luanda (Angola). Wydad finished the group on top with 13 points, having won four games, drawn one and lost one.

In the quarterfinals, Wydad defeated Algeria’s MC Alger 2-1 on aggregate.

Kaizer Chiefs - Kaizer Chiefs started from the preliminary round where they defeated Cameroon’s PWD Bamenda 1-0 on aggregate.

In the first round, Kaizer Chiefs defeated Angola’s Primeiro de Agosto 1-0 on aggregate.

They were drawn in Group C with Wydad, Horoya and Petro de Luanda. Kaizer Chiefs finished the group in second place with 9 points, having won two games, drawn three and lost one.

In the quarterfinals, Kaizer Chiefs defeated Tanzania’s Simba 4-3 on aggregate.
